At We Shine Online, we recognize that our work takes place on the traditional territories of many Indigenous nations across Turtle Island.
We acknowledge that our operations are located on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak, and Attawandaron peoples in the area known as London, Ontario. We also recognize the lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples in the area known as Toronto.
Today, these regions are home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Specifically, we acknowledge:
In London: The Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Oneida Nation of the Thames, and Munsee-Delaware Nation.
In Toronto: The Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
These lands are covered by Treaty 13, the Williams Treaties, and the London Township Treaty. We are also mindful of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, an agreement to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes.
As we connect people in the digital space, we remain grateful for the opportunity to work on these lands and are committed to the continuous path of reconciliation and respect for the Indigenous caretakers of these territories.
